What about the police?

Let's see now ...

While the police waited outside:

1. The daughters were sexually assaulted

2. The daughters were burned alive

3. The wife was strangled

4. The wife's corpse was "raped"

5. The house was torched

It should be noted that if the badly injured husband had been unable to get himself out of the house, he likely would have burned alive too.

After the event, we are told that the well-trained police did a wonderful job. Without their efforts, things could have been worse. How exactly?

I noted that large portions of the police report were blacked out. I guess that they were covering their @$$e$.

It seems that people were so distracted by the brutality of the crime that they had no mental energy left to question the conduct of the police at the scene.

One or more of them should be fired.

i agree, they dropped the ball, they could have saved them all from all this horrible scene but instead they waited. They should have been fired and there is no way it could have been worse. There does need to be a full investigation on the police and where they failed so miserably.

I am watching it now and i cant believe this. I think the whole family should file a law suit against the Mayor, the entire police dept. and anyone else that spoke out stating how the police dept did there job. They are all covering up.I would not as a family member or a good friend of the family stand by and let this go. Look now how we get to hear the 911 calls and see transcripts and even photos as awful as those can be in all these trials and killings these days, but with these murders nothing was allowed to be seen or heard. Sounds like a major cover up imo. Sounds like a bunch of chicken sh*t police officers. If i lived in that town I would move away and let it become a ghost town. Let the mayor then have nothing to run and let the police dept have no one to protect...Oh thats right that dont know how. Now Obama should have spoke of this because this was by far more of a tragedy then Trayvons shooting. And Joshua was wearing a hoodie too. They are actually thinking of putting Trays hoodie in the The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History.

reply

If I'm not mistaken, these murders happened in 2007. George Bush was still president.

of course they were covering their asses. but i'm sure their asses were majorly chewed out.probably even people were fired.

Wanna make God laugh? Plan something.

reply

This family should go on demanding answers to these questions.

WHO THE HELL STANDS OUTSIDE A HOUSE WHERE THEY KNOW THAT SOMETHING IS GOING ON AND NOT DO ANYTHING...ESPECIALLY WHEN THE HOUSE WAS BURNING...NO ONE THOUGHT TO RUN IN AND SAVE THESE PEOPLE THEN....?

All a bunch of crap and a great coverup on the police's part.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

They don't have to explain their actions, be held accountable, or answer questions. Police do not fall under the normal standards of social accountability, which is why this kind of thing will continue to happen over and over again. Praise them, call them heroes, no matter the outcome. Truly sad and ridiculous. They could have saved those women, it was demonstrated that 30 minutes went by while the police set a perimeter. Unacceptable, and no one was held accountable.

Right on! Couldn't have said it better

They heard screams coming the home. I think that was a pretty big sign that perhaps they should have gotten their asses in there. I watched the documentary yesterday and I woke up at midnight thinking about it and not being to fall back to sleep. Those poor people..

reply

The police followed proper protocol. What would you prefer that they had done?

reply

I would have preferred them to attempt to at least call the men. Anything.. Hearing screams the proper protocol is just to wait? I know if I was screaming I would hope they would try to do something. Mrs Petits parents and sister were perplexed by this as well. I don't think its a big stretch to wonder about this. As I said I would discuss this with you if you are the author of the book. Obviously you know much more about this then I do.

After seeing the documentary I was truly haunted. I woke up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat after having a nightmare about the crime. The young one calling the little girl he raped by her nickname made me crazy. It is just such a horrible tragedy. Those poor people and what they endured is unimaginable.

reply

I agree. It's a terrible crime.

When you have a hostage situation, I don't believe that you (the police) can just go barge in (like they do in the movies).

Also, for quite some time, I assume that the police did not even know what type of situation they had.

I assume it takes some time to assess the situation and to determine the correct course of action.

I also assume that the police who were at the scene (perimeter) were following orders and doing as their superiors commanded them to do.

It's a terrible crime. And, of course, the blame needs to be placed at the feet of the two criminals.

reply

Oh bs. They knew they didn't have a "hostage" situation as they had the two creeps in custody (and mr. Petit had escaped). There was zero excuse to not go into the house as it was burning to save the girls. The fire department does this all of the time to rescue people trapped in burning houses. The police f!cked up. Two young girls died b/c they didn't go in (with the fire dept).

Interesting that a person hiding behind his computer keyboard -- who wasn't even at the scene -- is the definitive expert on the matter.

Maybe you should tell the Cheshire Police to hire you as their consultant and/or as their Police Chief? You know, sight unseen? As you are the "expert" on all this. Truth be told, I doubt you even have any law enforcement experience whatsoever.

So, you know better from your computer than what they knew at the scene? That's some great gift you have. Maybe you should parlay that into some money?

So, according to your theory, a bunch of police officers knew that 2 or 3 people were dying inside. They could not care less. They were just whooping it up and having a grand old time, standing around outside the perimeter. Laughing. And gossiping. And twiddling their thumbs.

Yeah, cuz that makes sense.

If all that you theorize is true, why would Dr. Petit himself say that he is pleased with the Police Department and he is happy with the job that they did?

Probably the answer is that you -- at your computer -- know better than Dr. Petit himself. Correct? You know, the guy who has every invested interest in the matter. You know, the guy who lost a wife and two daughters to rape, robbery, and murder. You know, the guy who was beaten to a bloody pulp.

Get over yourself, dude. Really.

News flash. Maybe -- just maybe -- this is the fault of the two dirt-bag sub-humans? And not the fault of the police? Try that theory out. You don't once lay any blame at their feet.

Let me guess? Democrat?

reply

They knew they didn't have a "hostage" situation as they had the two creeps in custody (and mr. Petit had escaped).

Also, are you aware that crimes are not limited to two people? There could have been, for example, four people. And the other two were still in the house or God knows where?
