This show does have one upside...

it teaches you that unless you're family, or are close enough to be considered family, never, ever accept a job in a family owned/operated business if you want to get anywhere in your career.

I just wish this show existed when I made that mistake. :P

Another thing that bugged me, but I am no expert on so there may be factors I'm not aware of, but 15 years and the company is only worth millions? Maybe 20 years ago, sure... but that seems kind of stagnant to me.

Well, I don't think the salaries were that unfair based on the amount of time spent at the company. A good company will periodically give you raises, so it makes sense that someone who has worked there for 13 years makes significantly more money than someone who has only worked there a year. What makes the salaries unfair is that Kout was only a part time worker. There is no way a part time worker should ever make that much compared to the full time workers. I think it was a good decision to give her more hours, but who knows if that will stick.

To the OP, may I ask about your experience "mistake"? I'm just curious. Always remember, we learn a lot more from our mistakes than successes. Nobody is perfect. It might look that way, but trust me, it is never too late to learn something new. Things happen for a reason, even if we don't know what it is at the time.

Not that the show would ever give this out, but what was the starting salary of these people, especially Kout. 13 years is a long time, so maybe she earned her salary through the years.

I think she has other places check the financials because of audits, which are done on a quarterly basis at most companies.

In the end, does it really matter? She's their accountant, yet she's not a CPA. She does their books but the important stuff is sent out to other accounting firms.

Plus, several people stated that Kout only really works part-time. She comes in late, when she comes in at all. Doesnt' stay the entire day. Acts as a spy for her daughter.

At $77k+ a year, she's damn well overpaid.
