If you own a company... and you do this....

You don't deserve my business...

Period....

Why would I do business with a company that shows me that their employees are all slackers and boobs?

reply

Well I'm going to assume you don't even have a pot to piss in so I'm not too concerned if I earned your business.

reply

Oh, so you decided to have your business featured on this train wreck?

If you ARE one of those people. Explain to me this.

How are perspective customers supposed to feel about seeing a company they're going to do business with on Television where infighting and dysfunction is the norm of that office?

As as for me "not having a pot to piss in".. You never know!

reply

It is what it is.

I know if I was suckered into a reality show where my faults were exposed as well as my salary I'd be pissed. I might quit on the spot.

reply

I know what you mean MovieMan. It has started to occur to me that for the most part the owners of the companies on this show either don't care if they lose any of their employees or need the money this show pays. Except for the 1st company where the owner cared about keeping her family and wouldn't have gotten rid of one anyway.

reply

I agree with you OP but I can see why owners might want to agree to do this show.

Their company is getting national exposure. This isn't a huge hit but it's still watched by millions of people. At first, the company is seen full of 'slackers and boobs' but the company gets a makeover, to weed out the bad employees and to show people that they've changed and now are a better company than before. The owner is not shown in a bad light, only his/her employees are. some people might think "it takes a lot of guts to admit there's a problem with your company and I wouldn't mind doing business with someone who knows their weaknesses".

Whether there's dysfunction among the employees doesn't mean that the products aren't worth buying. The second company might sell great exercise equipment for all we know. Whether the employees are dysfunctional won't change most people's decision on whether to buy. This is especially true when you consider that they barely focus on the products at all. I don't even understand what the first and third companies sell. I remember the first company sold some type of credit card service. I don't even remember what the third company sold. Since this show barely focuses on the companies' products it most likely won't have any affect on people's perception of them.

I really have to agree with you. I stumbled on this show last week and wasn't quite sure what the premise was, so I researched it. I can't believe these are real companies. I would not feel comfortable doing business with a company that had so many bad employees (for whatever reason) working there and they advertised it on national tv. Not sure why any company would actually go on this show.

As a side note, the episode I saw last week, they actually revealed the salaries of each employee to all the other employees. Management 101 says that is a bad idea. That was incredibly unprofessional. No reputable company would do that. It can end up a human resources nightmare.

I wouldn't do business with you if you refused to be on this show. Every company has some dysfunction. The problem is when you keep it hidden and swept under the carpet. Show it the light of day and you have my respect.

Sounds like some people here run their business like the Nixon or Obama administration.

reply

You'd really think less of someone for not wanting a scummy tv show filmed in the office?

I find it hard to believe you've ever worked for any type of business.

reply

I feel the same way OP. Sure, it's fun to watch a trainwreck, but if you're a business, being a part of a show like this kis horrible advertising. Lol

People forget that the best thing about any business is it's ability to take care of business. This show proves that they don't know how. Can you imagine Oprah, Donald Trump, orRichard Branson gathering their employees and saying"Derp, I just don't know what to do or why I'm locing money. You guys take over and figure out ewwo to fire."

The show makes it look like the employees are the core of the problem. No, if the employees are allowed to get that out of hand, it's the bosses fault. They set the pace and control the environment. Being a part of this show makes the business owners look like idiots especially if the em[ployee get to act like idiots and get overpaid.

To the person who said it's bad policy to reveal the salaries of the workers. It's only bad for the management. It's good for the workers, however. The reason the salaries aren't revealed in most companies is because the management likes to have control over its workers. But, knowing the salaries doesn't affect workers camaraderie with each other. It's just the opposite actually, as co-workers will speculate about each other's salaries if they don't know.
