The themes are universal - a lot of people missed that

Anyone who has gotten to this point understands a lot of what was going on. Older people reach "the move" stage at some point, for whatever reason. It can be age related, such as the stairs, or too much room for just the two of them, or declining funds that no longer cover higher utility bills, etc.

For me, the biggest point was the memories. The life you created in a space is more important than the space. They touched on that several times.

Anyone who has gotten to this point with parents instantly recognizes the grumpy hesitancy. Facing old age and changes is not easy and some go easier than others.

Trust me, however, you need to move from a place like that before it's too late. I was upset that the poor dog was dragged up the steps even while exhibiting distress. It speaks to people not using their brains with pets but I suspect, for this movie, it was used to hit home the stair thing, which IS important. I found that out when I broke my ankle.

Doesn't matter where you live or what type of dwelling you have, the feelings about it all are universal.
