It's a good attempt, but the cast sucks

The cast acts like this is all real. I mean you have to be respectful to the game, you don't want the cast laughing or being rude to the actors, but they act like this is all real and they want to be a real hero, cause it's there dream and real life sucks. I would rather see a cast that is having fun and not talking it so seriously. It wouod be like watching Survivor and everyone is acting like they are really stranded and it's life or death, you would just laugh at them.

reply

They're role playing. It's the point of the show...

reply

No, they aren't. Or I should say they're doing it very badly. Any decent hero/paladin would have shot their own target in the first elimination and would have voted Christian off in any of the others.

If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.

reply

Yes, but they are taking it too seriously, which is like bad acting. They can act more natural and still role pkay. Although technology they aren't role playing, cause they are themselves. They don't have a backstory or character, so they can act more normal.

I mean they acted like they really saved the queen's life. I just think it makes it too cheesy and if they just acted normal, but respected the game, it would make the show much better.

reply

The scenario was the queen was dying. They solved the scenario. They role played the scenario. I don't understand what you want out of this.

reply

My problem is more with them talking to the cameras. They don't need to act like it's real when they talk to the cameras.

reply

I think they the show could be a lot better.

reply

Yeah. They shouldn't have confessionals at all for this reality show.

reply

there were only a few worthy moments during the confessionals. andrew saying how he'd learned that instead of NOT being like the other eliminated paladins, instead he should aspire to embody certain qualities of ALL of them. class act how much andrew really seemed to learn from the whole experience. and shondo, giving full credit to lina and calling her the true hero...these last few moments of confessional from the last standing paladins was worthwhile, but other than that, this could have been scrapped to show more cast-scripted moments, more of the castle and landscape, more plot.

also, i'm sure the paladins were instructed to speak only about the quest like it was real and not break character.

reply

also, you should clap your hands.

reply

Yeah. They shouldn't have confessionals at all for this reality show.

I totally agree. And they shouldn't include comments that the producers tell viewers that this is not real in the beginning of each episode. We all know they are role playing. It takes out fun off it.

That's their job. They are being paid to perform the acting job of their career and be in character in a live setting where they must be in character all the time.

I think you'd be disappointed in the results.

Count: "Oh no! Someone's poisoned the queen! She's dead. Or, at least, she would be dead if she wouldn't stop giggling so much!"
Queen: "I can't help it, your fly is unzipped."
Count: "Oops! And today's the day I forgot to wear underpants! Ten minute break everyone. I'll be in my trailer."

I think it would have been fun if all the contestants/paladins were LARPers in real life. I keep imagining how fun it would be if the paladins interacted more with the actors. They basically just run around and do what they're told, but it would be nice to challenge the actors occasionally. If I were there, I would have accused the Vizier of poisoning the Queen. Especially when he came to the common room and accused the paladins of doing that.

Its possible that any interaction between the paladins and the actors might have been edited out. I was thinking about this almost from the first episode. I felt the actors were in a tough spot, because their parts were sort of scripted; they had to steer the paladins in a specific direction, but they couldn't control exactly what the paladins said or did. They might have to do some ad-libbing, and that could be tough.

Like in this last episode, one of the paladins asked Krio how many of them were still working on getting the first door open. The actor had to think on his feet, I suppose. Was he really allowed to answer? How much could he influence the paladins, if at all? That's a fine line to walk. Same thing with Ansgar two episodes ago. I think it was Bonnie who totally botched almost every aspect of her equestrian challenge. Ansgar said something along the lines of, "You're going to get yourself killed out there." I think she actually replied, "I'll try my best." That didn't fit! The actor could have played off that and ripped her some more. I guess he erred on the side of caution.

With the example you give of the Vizier, how would he have responded if the paladins accused him of poisoning the queen? Could he even have responded, or would that have been going off script too much? If he could respond, that could have led to some more drama.

Anyway, I admire the difficult position the actors are in. Overall, I think they're doing a great job of it, esp. Ansgar.

reply

Me, too. I also would have stopped the Queen from drinking that wine, because it was obvious she should have had a taster.

reply

100% agreed. LARPers would have made this way more watchable. But the production crew would have had a harder time controlling them. I think the paladins were likely instructed not to intervene in cast-scripted moments, like when ansgar was taken down by those dudes (and miraculously later showed up free?) - i thought shondo WANTED to go help him (having said in the first ep how they wouldn't again leave a man behind) and there was a free sword on the ground! i think he wasn't ALLOWED to or he'd have grabbed that sword and pitched in to be caught with ansgar.
