Flip the ending, overdub some dialogue, and you've got a winner

Make the rescue the hallucination, extend the ascension with her sister and make the final shark battle a bit more tense and you've got a really solid survival movie.

Also, overdub some of the dialogue and crying. It got a bit annoying at times.

And make it a hard R. PG-13 rating hurt the film. The shark attack scenes were edited so that you can't actually see anything. Annoying.
