Why is Camp Cutthroat starting end of August?

For most, summer is over by then.

Must have been a scheduling thing.

My question is: WHY HAVE THEY BEEN PROMOTING IT SINCE THE BEGINNING OF JULY?!

I'm already getting sick of the whole idea.

Summer don't end till Sept 21-22

But this is meant to mimic going away to camp. Right now there is no one home to go to camp.

Everyone is at work or school.

While I wondered the same thing, I did come up with a possible, logical reason the producers might be able to confirm:

Perhaps the heads of the channel that airs the show figured Camp Cutthroat to be capable of drawing large ratings--for the Food Network, that is--but they also figured that because of so many people being away on vacation or otherwise busy in the summer, they scheduled this for the end of summer to maximize the ratings--more viewers in September than in July, I'm saying.

Don't know if this is "the", or even "a" reason, but I know I have read about viewership on all TV being lower from July to August than in the fall months.

Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?

I think the Olympics might have had something to do with a lot of delayed programming. They probably assumed that everybody's going t o watch the Olympics instead, so they hold off the new shows until it's over.

That makes sense, considering since there were quite a few pre-Olympic shows airing the qualifying rounds, documentaries, and even a 4 or 5 week long "reality" show that followed around a half dozen teens in different parts of the US that were ranked in the top 3 (or higher) in their individual event(s). Obviously none aired on The Food Network, although they did do some competition episodes on various Food Network shows that had Olympic type themes. Cutthroat Kitchen and Chopped both had an episode with Olympic themes.
