the detective (2007) and the detective 2 (2011).

i didn't realize that until the flashback showing the death of liu kai chi (which took place in part 2).

part 1 was nice with the supernatural twist at the end, but part 2 was weaker and part 3 was also a disappointment.

we need more supernatural twist, i don't watch the detective (1/2/3) for the normal detective work -_-

Apparently his eyesight gets better in each film too.

it's not like that was even a big plot point in the first film. In fact, I only knew about it because it mentioned it on the plot summary I read.
