How did Boaz know the letters were from a man?

The voice over is a man's voice, but there wasn't any indication in the letters' content that the writer was a man. How did Boaz imagine a man's voice writing the letters? I don't know Hebrew. Is there some grammatical thing in Hebrew that indicates the gender of the writer, some inflection of how the writer makes a self-reference?

reply

You're right. It was not until the last letter, I think, that the writer said he was a man. I don't know anything about Hebrew, so I can't help there.

So many movies, so little time...

In Hebrew, the gender of the speaker is indicated in the verb.
For example, I love you is (Bold is masculine, italics are feminine):
- "Ani ohev otakh" man to woman
- "Ani ohevet otkha" woman to man
- "Ani ohev otkha" man to man
- "Ani ohevet otakh" woman to woman.

Aside from that, how did Noa know who it was as she confronted him in his office with those letters? Even her boyfriend never knew who was sending him those letters.

reply

She saw him when they was on the bus. Which is what she told him. After she read the letter about the bus, she knew.

reply

Although in the European languages I know you can't tell, in Hebrew you can tell, by the conjugation of the verbs.
