So no Victoria and Jinyo this season?

I miss them, Jinyo always comes up with some impressive technique. So far I don't like this seasons stars, Jesse is way too amateurish, Chole's ego seems to be catching up with her, liked her persona last season, still don't know who those two dudes are haven't seen them yet.

The drama was kinda stupid last season, which I'm happy they got rid of, but the costumes this year isn't all that great, except for the Dark Crystal one, which should have won some kind of prize.

Thank god no more Victoria. Everytime she stole Jinyo's ideas and never gave him credit made me cringe. lol

Chloe's ego is definitely coming through...she comes across as someone who just likes being the center of attention and the compliments as opposed to the actual hobby.

The 2 new guys are horrible. At least the Mohawk guy came up with a cool costume, but their attitudes are painful to watch. I can see why SciFy put them on air, to get some male drama...but they really need to tone it down some.

I really liked Chloe last year, she's not awful (yet) but you can tell she's changed and not for the better.

The 2 new guys...not really into them. They're very cocky and if their costumes from last night are anything to go from, they have no real reason to be.

I didn't like the mannequin costume, it didn't evoke the fear of Silent Hill in me, it looked really messy.

I miss Victoria and Jinyo . It was great between them
Love Jessie
The two new guys give them time
but don't know where they got them from

Finally got around to my tivo. Really don't like the two new guys, Miguel is really full of himself, I live in NYC and been to some cons, don't know who he is. The other dude, seriously, did he think his costume had a chance, especially for best in show? Once I saw Warhammer 4k I knew he would win one of the top prizes, the details, the weathering, the decals, that took a very long time to do.

Not like that two week plastic/pvc crap, the details were sub par, the implementation wasn't good, the molding was awful. and I'm surprised he didn't pass out on stage, he look heat exhausted under that get up.

I much rather see Victoria berate Jinyo that those two new comers. At least she had more talent than them. Well Jinyo does, even though she'd steal his thunder.

Did you hear when the host introduced him as "Warhammer forty thousand"

Is it just me but I'm not seeing any difference in Chloe. She was one of the few that I liked last year and still like her this year. I've also seen a number of different things that she's been in and she always seems really nice. If you listen to The Nerdist Podcast (it would be their end of 2013 episode), her and her boyfriend Chris talk about something personal that happened to them last year, that could the change in her personality that your seeing or it could just be the way the show is edited too.

Completely agree on the two new guys though, way too full of themselves.

which episode would that be? the jon lovitz one? what happened to them?

reply

I dunno if changed is the right word. But she's been pretty unaware of how she comes off to other people, online and on her shows. There is a good amount of people who dislike her and Chris, mostly because they don't respond to criticism well. She got a thread deleted on reddit just because people said nothing about their costumes resembled Doctor Who (which was true, except for holding a sonic screwdriver and a bowtie). If her shtick is making sexy costumes and showing skin, that's fine. But don't lash out when people point it out.

In season 1, she was still a rookie in competitive cosplay, now that she's hanging out with the cat girls, she's a bit more snobbish. That's what I'm seeing, she's not as carefree, she's becoming an elitist. Which is why I'm not liking her as much this time around. She got tainted.

It could be a difference in editing, or it could be she's in that spot where her career is taking off and she's got a decent network of relatively famous people in their various fields already which is helping her become more famous.

Like with her friend who had never cosplayed, when she was asked about stuff being made by others it felt like she was name dropping when she mentions Yaya more than anything else. But that could have been the way that was edited.

I still love Chloe, don't get me wrong. I just liked that last year she was there to have fun and be goofy. She's less goofy now, I think she's still in it for fun, although I could have done without the super skimpy outfit outing or the cutesy Pokemon dress. I feel like last year she would have done the actual Pokemon and not the sexy girl version.
Also the name dropping was kind of a turn off. It probably wasn't her doing, but I wish they wouldn't push her 'friends' and family so much, let her show her own talents and creativity. It just takes away from her which sucks because she is talented and creative in her own right, she doesn't need to name drop her dad or Grant.

Yea, Victoria was the one who took credit for her boyfriends (Jinyo) work.

Chloe is still fun but I can see a little of what others are saying. Last year she had that innocence of just being happy to be there and being asked to be involved which was cute. She's still very inexperienced and is being pulled along by 1)Her dad's reputation, and 2)Her association with Holly and Jessica.

Don't get me wrong I still love her to death but to be honest her costume tonight was really nothing but sewing a dress. I'm sure with reality show editing they did a little more practice than what was shown but not much. Jessica deserves the credit because it was her concept for the skit and her insistence that they do at least a dry run in the park that fooled people into believing it was so well planned, which got them the win.

Yeah, that dress wasn't in the same league as everyone else.
