If there's anything to love about this movie

It's Glenn Fleshler.

If you are into seriously dark humor this film is an instant classic. Flesher too was great particularly as a cantankerous foreman surprising the audience by manhandling those two hired thugs. Several great actors playing oddball characters. God's Pocket is way underrated.

He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator.

Actually God's Pocket was one confused film. I guess the novel just doesn't translate to a movie. Much like a Thomas Pynchon novel. A lot of societal themes and commmentary thrown on paper but with a thinly written story, much like Killing Them Softly

Performances were all great though, especially Fleshler's sort of reluctant then suddenly just had it with the unfair BS boss spoke more about the working class life than Hoffman's odd and confused with itself tale. I found Fleshler's character to be the only legit thing about this film. The rest of the performances we're still great though.
