As far as "skulking" around the bedroom, it wasn't just the daughters bedroom for one thing because Nick was in there too.
But it's not usual for parents to sometimes take a stolen moment when they can simply observe their child or children as they behave without them around. Those opportunities don't come up all that often and you take them when they present themselves.
