"...international cultural icon Nick Cave"

I think most people would be like "Who's Nick Cave? Never heard of him before".

After hearing him they might say "Eh, sounds like a Lizard King wannabe".

He may not be as well known here in the US, but in Europe and elsewhere, yeah 'international cultural icon' would be an apt description. Not that he doesn't have his fans here as well.

reply

Puts him right up there with Manowar, lol.

¿Que?

reply

Manowar...the American heavy metal band that's too cheesy for America. They were largely made fun of and can barely fill a bar here, but in Europe they fill stadiums. Look them up for a giggle.

That is a pretty hilarious picture, I'd have to agree.

But Nick Cave isn't American, so that makes no sense. And anyone who's paid attention to music in the last 40 years or so knows who Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds are... and anyone who's paid close attention to film in the last 15 years or so know who Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are. If this was your first exposure to him that doesn't mean that's true for anyone else.

Now.. the real question is how funny is this hair band? The picture was good for a laugh, but is it worth enduring a listen?

And anyone who's paid close attention to literature. . .

You can cut Asia out of 'elsewhere.'

reply

Elsewhere means some other places, not all other places. I'm sure he wouldn't draw as big of a crowd in the middle east either.

reply

Cut eastern Europe out from "elsewhere" also. Had no idea who this guy was and I consider my fairly well versed in music history.

I was the same.

I remember I found out who he is when I happened to be reading an interview with Flea of the RHCP..

Well, a lot of people are not reading newspapers.

I think people unfamiliar with Nick would perhaps not be aware of his very black, hubristic humour concerning his public image. This is a man who wants to commission a huge bronze statue of himself upon a rearing horse, to be placed at the centre of a roundabout in his hometown.

reply

Im pretty sure Mr Cave is just fine with his standing in the good ol U S A.

doors were a joke. cave is a bigger joke. pompous bald retard , had 2 decent songs 38 yrs ago. dont give these idiots the time off day. music and musicians are very over rated
