You know what occured to me...

Let me preface this: I've seen almost all of WLiiA? from the British version to the American version. And now thanks to clips uploaded to youtube, I've seen a bunch of skits (and some episodes) from this new one.

After decades of watching the series I have to finally say that I'm surprised by how unfunny these famous comedians are they bring in from time-to-time. I won't name anybody in particular, but they bring in these big names to do a guest episode or two and I'm surprised and baffled by their fame. They can't seen to think of anything funny, they're lines lack punch and proper delivery, they fall back on lame easy jokes, and it's like they struggle to even be funny.

Big names here. Meanwhile there's Colin, Ryan, and Greg regularly knocking people off their seats with laughter.

Then you go watch some stand up of these big names who did guest spots, to see if maybe they are better by themsleves with prepared material, and they're not -- they're still painfully unfunny. Even Wayne Brady was better than this.

I wouldn't pay to watch any of these famous names. I would, however, pay to see Colin. Or Ryan. Or Greg. Even Chip.

improv is a very specialized skill, being a stand up comedian is very different, they write jokes, they tell jokes, occasionally put down a heckler

WLiiA provides situations and rules for a 'game,' as well as *other people they have to interact with*, without anything prearranged, there is a bit of acting involved, and, of course, on-the-spot making up of your lines, it's not the same skill set as the people you're talking about, it's unfair to expect them to be great at it - that being said, I'm sure they come in thinking they'll nail it...then the stage lights come on

Oh don't hand me that. Maybe you could have gotten away with that in 1988, but we have the internet now man -- it's easy to find a lot of hilarious comedians who only stand there at a microphone. You act like we've not had the web of 24-hour television stations for a long while now.

I don't get your beef, I was just trying to explain why some 'big names' in comedy might flop on Whose Line, if you don't agree with my reasoning, provide your own, otherwise, chill
