Wallace carries a revolver.

But the dual ammo holster on his belt behind his left hip are for autoloader pistol magazines, and not for revolver speedloaders.

At the beginning of the movie he had an autoloader pistol on and then after he took the revolver away from the old Sheriff, you see him with the revolver in his holster but whoever is in charge of art design didn't replace his magazine holster with revolver speedloaders holsters.

While I don't know much about guns, isn't strange for a sheriff to use a revolver nowadays?

I prefer a revolver.

Less moving parts that may break and it won't jam like an autoloader pistol where the next round doesn't load properly or the empty casing of the last round doesn't eject.

With training and practice you can speed load 5 or 6 rounds (depending on the make and model of your revolver) using a speedloader at the same speed you will eject the empty magazine on an autoloader and load the next magazine.

Thanks, good to know that revolvers are still viable.

You are welcome.

Dad bought me a revolver when I was 17. A Smith & Wesson 686 .357 Magnum with 4" barrel.

I replaced the wooden grip with a pachmayr grip.

It looks exactly like the one in this photo I found on Google image search:

I am 52 now. I still have it and I rather carry that than a Glock or a Beretta or a Sig autoloader.

I wouldn't call it strange. I'd call it uncommon. Certainly the revolver is viable. The original poster pretty much had it right. This movie was just poorly written propaganda.
