Why did they do the kidnapping after the first successful robbery ?

Maybe I've missed something, but why did they go on with the kidnapping after they managed to get away with the money after the first robbery ? Greed ? Or maybe was it that they had feelings involved towards Mr. Heineken who fired their father ? Obviously they had enough money to go on with their normal lives.
