Violin playing

Why was the teenage daughter asking for a new violin at a cost of £400 when she was only capable of playing Frere Jaques! I know it's got nothing to do with the plot or the excellent acting or the show in general, but as a violinist it just bugged me! In a later scene, post revelation, the music on the stand is of a much higher standard, I guess dad's generosity paid off then!
