... Michael Douglas walks out of the police station, handcuffed, and suddenly a helicopter appears and he flies away in it.
Did he escape from the sheriff's custody, or did the sheriff let him go (it was an escape, I guess)? How did the helicopter appear out of nowhere? When and how did Douglas' character call in the chopper? He didn't have access to a phone.
He was let go by the Sheriff and Deputy for the $$.

I was thinking that when he made his one phone call, he called for helicopter. During his bathroom break (the others were online reading about him) that's when he walked out.
Not sure if that's right, but that's how I saw it.
He did appear to be handcuffed (however I didn't go back and watch it again) I'm thinkin he tried to just give everyone the slip.
