Yeah, he was indeed. I would love if the movie had introduced us to Douglas on the phone, smoking a huge cigar, in his huge penthouse office, in Century City,CA, going over the outline to the huge Beijing Deal, camera on his back, raspy voice, smoke in the air, 8 PC Screens, 2 by 2, showing XCFE, XOSL, XCYO, XBER, FXAL, XNDQ, XNDQ & XOTC! Informing his team that he likes to hunt before a huge merger.
Thant would be the Douglas as we remember.

The ending was oxymoronic, he would never have done that job himself in Denver ( despite stating so )
I might claim that the ending was one of the weakest I have ever seen, completely out of sync with the rest of the film.
The ending reeks of producers wanting a “happy ending” unaware that the audience rooted for Douglas and could not give a damn about the deal breaking, goodie little two shoes, kid !! Reshot months after principal photography wrapped.
I know, right. Sure he said he likes to clean up his own mistakes but that was truly
idiotic. Btw, I like your opening scene!! That would fit perfectly.
I like your idea for the opening, you should take a shot at the ending, if your last statement was too suggest they did re-shoots, no they did not.

shareI agree that Michael Douglas is a straight up pimp, even at 71...however I respectfully disagree with those of you on the ending. His character was very arrogant, and as he could've hired someone to off Ben, I think he would've wanted it done himself. It was very in character....the GF shooting him at the end was the bad ending part.
