Animal lovers steer clear of this movie

Disgusting beginning if you are a dog lover. I don't care how good the rest of it may be, after only seeing a few minutes, the DVD is heading back to Netflix.

reply

Why do you think all those people died in this movie? It was because that dog died.

reply

Hahaha Wow.

reply

3 puppies died because the OP made this thread.

reply

*rents movie that has a description of an ex-Hitman who comes out of retirement to get revenge and kill everyone that wronged him*. BRB, cries over a puppy getting killed...? SMH

reply

I'm a little late to this party but if you're a dog lover you shouldn't avoid this movie. After his dog is killed Wick goes on a killing spree to avenge it. At one point screaming that they killed his dog. In addition to that he rescues another pup at the end of the film. Which isn't even a spoiler.

reply

What bcjester said. I like Keanu, but the ONLY reason I watched this movie was to see him go after the scum that killed his puppy.

reply

He wasn't really avenging the dog.........

reply

There is a scene where he is tied to a chair and they are questioning him as to why he is going after his son. Wick repeats that they killed his dog, they took away his ability to grieve by killing the last bit he had left of her: his dog. That dog had all the love he had left for his departed within it. He adored that dog it was literally all he had left emotionally. That was taken away from him, he was avenging the dog outright. Killing the dog to him was similar to being responsible for her death.

reply

Exactly they probably could have gotten away with beating him and stealing his car but killing his dog is what really sets off the rampage. The scene at the end should probably have solidified how important the dog was in all this as well for those who missed it.

ī€¸thank you!

reply

Thankyou!! I avoid ANY movie if I know first hand an Animal is being killed. Especially a dog. Thanx for the heads up!!

reply

Not judging you or anything, just saying the basic plot of the movie is he's punishing the entire mafia for killing this dog. So... basically he's doing the dog justice.

That seems a very strange rule to have, how do you enforce it? In war moves where horses are used, plenty of horses get killed, and what about those with alien bugs...it must make your life very difficult to find out beforehand whether half way through a film, some animal on your censored list is going to die.

Do you also avoid any movie where humans are being killed? Women, children? Or is it only dogs you worry about?

reply

I'm a people lover, and yet I have no problem with people dying in movies. You know why? Because they don't really die.

reply

Hahaha, well said. Some people are idiots.

reply

The O/P is either a troll or such a wuss that he'd better take my advice and never but NEVER watch Old Yeller! He will become unhinged and need to be sedated.

reply

Yeah, it's probably a good thing he returned the DVD. He seems extremely sensitive, I highly doubt he would've liked the movie anyway lol.

reply

People suck. I love them getting killed.

In a movie things happens, you can't sit back and say oh it's only a movie. Well YOU can, but you're an idiot.

Movie viewing isn't a right, it's a privilege. You either embrace the story or don't watch it.

Argumemnon Im a doctor and very much care if people die in real life, also care if dogs die in real life, yet somehow I dont care if people die in movies, but very much care if a dog dies in a movie... Its not something rational it just is

reply

I just encountered this. I put it on recently on cable out of curiosity and clicked it right off after the puppy got killed. I'm not making judgements, it's just a trigger for me and not something I wanted to see.

reply

I completely disagree kimberlyeleanor. While I do agree I obviously didn't like the actual scenes where the dog was frightened and then killed, I do agree with what's been said by others here, that he went on this rampage to avenge the dog, so really it is a film FOR animal lovers.
I'm sure there are plenty of animals lover out there who wouldn't mind someone like John Wick around to 'take care of' any scumbags that do things like this to animals.
I know that he probably did it more for what the dog represented than the actual dog itself, but hey, the bad guy got what he deserved either way, so all's well.
