Question **SPOILER**.

Why Viggo told him the location of his son? He could have made up anything. Told a lie instead.

He then could have left with his son in the helicopter, wherever he was going at the end of the movie. If leaving in the helicopter was not a solution to John Wick problem to him, then if you think about it, the whole ending doesn't make sense, because it was shown as if his leaving in the helicopter would save him from John Wick.

If he thought that John Wick will find him anywhere and he can't hide from him, then why kill Marcus? If he thought that killing Marcus would not entice John to kill him, then why he started to leaving in the helicopter as soon as John sees Marcus dead?

My guess is it is part of their code. He knew John had to find him to finish the job because that's the kind of guy he is. He won't stop until he got his revenge.

When Viggo finally caved and told Wick where the safe house was, I was thinking the same thing as you, that he was lying.

I also thought that with the way the Continental respected the "rules of the game", and Viggo showing the utmost respect for Wick based on how he described him and his previous work to the people he worked with, there was a sort of "honor among thieves" that dictated you don't lie to someone like that when they let you live.

in that case Viggo would have been better shooting his son in the head when he first found out and posting him to Wick's address.

He was still hoping to kill John using his son as bait, just as he did with the Red Circle. Like any code, he knew to keep his own reputation in tact he would have to kill Marcus for his betrayal, Viggo didn't count on being betrayed by Winston telling Wick that he was leaving on a helicopter. Viggo had hoped to get away, clean, or at least get away as far as he could.

I think Viggo just had enough. He thought, no, he KNEW nothing would ever stop Wick from coming for his son and so he wanted to end this regardless of the consequences.

And yes, Viggo wasn’t expecting Winston to tell Wick where he was. That is why he felt confident in killing Marcus and rubbing it in John’s face; he believed he would get away with no problem. Now is that different from him lying to Wick and attempting to leave with his son instead? It probably isn’t that different. But Viggo got cocky at the end. Plus... decisions, decisions.
