How many people in the city?

In the first scene we see Amity has a few hundred people. Candor has maybe 1000-1500. From Divergent we saw that Dauntless had a few hundred as did Abdegation. So is the total population about 5K may 10K at most?

Yeah, about that many. It wasn't that many in the book tho

Towards the end when Four a and Tris went to Candor, he asked Torino how many Dauntless were still around. She said another 180 or so. He seemed surprised thinking that was a low number, so I assumed their numbers were around 500 or more
