Sunset Shimmer is just Trixie's clone. they needed Trixie for the movie but made her a good pony in the show and couldn't use her so they just thought up one that was just like her... oh and did you catch the fact she is just Twilight renamed... Twilight... Sunset.... Sparkle... Shimmer... yeah big stretch there Hasbro.
