Any fan of the show who hates this movie just from seeing the trailer...

Listened to it, and all it does is bring up the tired old straw-man argument of "Oh, MLP is all about love and tolerance, and that's what the bronies say we should do, but now they are hating it! How hypocritical!"

No, it's not hypocritical. Bronies love My Little Pony. PONY. WITH ****ING PONIES IN IT. These are now human characters. To force extrapolation of one person's or group of persons' love from one situation into another is illogical, an argumentative fallacy.

People are criticising EG because the concept it is based around is old, tired, and clichéd. And because most bronies don't WANT to see humans. To most bronies, humans suck. Humans represent a great deal of what is wrong with the world, and so there is a great deal of relief in watching a show that doesn't feature a SINGLE stinking human in it (in its current version of FIM; I'm aware the original Generation 1 ponies had humans around as well). To bring humans back into it, not to mention turning the beloved ponies into humans is a slap in the face to a great many fans.

It is almost a guarentee that Hasbro will see a sharp dip in interest in the MLP brand with the introduction of these travesties. I foresee a very short existence of any merchandise related to EG, this is the only movie related to them we will see, any series will be canned when the movie bombs, and everything will go back to status quo... though the MLP series will also suffer for it, inevitably.

Come on, look at those dolls and think for a moment what they stand for and then tell me this is not the end and an absolute contradiction to what Faust meant it to be ;-) :

I don't even watch FIM, I just saw the trailer for this and laughed my ass off. This movie is NOTHING more than an excuse to make Bratz clones and get bronies and little girls to shell out $9 a piece for a movie that they made on a television cartoon budget.

That did not change my mind at all. This guy is a hypocite. He claims that all the bronies are unleashing unwarranted hate towards this show, and fails to mention the many well-thought out arguments bronies and non-bronies have posed. He also claims that some of the staff making the film are so upset by the hate that they are leaving, but he does not cite this. Sounds like a fallacy to me.

My personal problem with the trailer is not that the ponies become human, or that they play-out the tired high-school cliche. My problem is with the design of the ponies; not their skin color; but their bodies! They are stick-thin, wearing the same outfits in different colors! Part of the appeal of the show is that it portrayed very different characters getting along and over-coming their differences. As a show for young girls, I am highly disturbed by the image of beauty the "Equestria Girls" portray. Like others have said, they look like Bratz dolls. I would have really liked to see variety in the pony's human forms, faces, and attire.
