How freaking stupid is the general American populace to for ONE SECOND think this is real?

Sorry OP, please sterilize yourself so that you cannot reproduce.

If I sound harsh, then I'm sorry. I simply do not want more people like this sharing my Oxygen.

To quote a line from Stripes, "Lighten up Frances!" The person is simply asking a question. He's not wanting to perform brain surgery on you. If you're so insulted by the question, then just move on. Honestly, I get really sick of seeing all these uncivil and unnecessary anonymous attacks on people in internet message boards. Mom was right, if you've nothing good to say...you know the rest.

The "stories" are obviously fake and are there just to put it in story form for entertainment purposes. However, the phenomenon for lack of a better word may have some fact or truth to it. Spontaneous Human Combustion, though I have never seen it for myself, has some documentation and there was this belief in huge squid or sea monster in the oceans and a lot of people though it was just a case of misinterpretation of sea creatures. However, there have been giant squid larger than what was considered normal in places like Japan and Australia. Also, I have seen photos of actual medical anomalies that occur extremely rarely and we don't hear about them but they happened.

Black holes are not suppose to exists but we found one anyway. Listen, I am not saying that these are true things, but we don't know everything there is to know about what can and can't exist or happen. Pandas were thought to be myths until they were found, there use to be these tall monsters the size of and over the size of trees with spots and shaped like Camels that we call Giraffes.

I do not think the stories are real and I don't think that is what is important in this weird but entertaining series. However, it is the possibility that they are talking about. No one would have believed in the 1920s that there could be a bomb built that could do heavy damage until we invented the Atom bomb, or that we would have a president that would smuggle arms to our so called enemies and funding it by using drug lords but that happened. I don't believe in the stories but I do believe in the possibility.

Fake but I enjoyed the sea monster story, the ocean freaks me out. The reveal at the end was terrible though, they could have made it look a little more realistic.

reply

That's why im here. Because there is no disclaimer on the show.. But smells like bullsh*%t

I know that there are two others saying it's fake but in case you need proof, the names of all of the actors are in the cast list.

reply

Well using my trusty technology we all have access to, I search names as im watching and none come up. Also a good clue is episode 2 about the vietnzm vet, well his buddies would be much older than those interviewed, if they were part of the war in 1968. Theyd be in their 60s not 30s and 40s, period. And if it were reinactmdnt of truth, it would have a disclaimer that I believe is a legal thing. So my deduction is its a good fiction series.

reply

Damn....wanted it to be real but I thought the whole story about the 'The Teller' was a bit too perfect. As soon as I seen episode 2 about the supposed Vietnam vets who seemed just a few years older than me (30ish) but they were talking about missions they went on in 1969....not a chance. Remember this is brought to us by Discovery Network who also produced that fake-ass Mermaids special. They might actually pull it off if they didn't hire such obvious actors and try to claim they are real people.

Intrigued by the show, I did some investigating on my own and have indeed uncovered "something" that would lead to proof that portions of the shows episodes were based on factual truth. The episode involving the two sea divers being attacked off the coast of Santa Barbara has some interesting info online about an event similar. Reports I have found point toward a shark attack as opposed to a massive dragon-like beast. Interesting stuff. *beep* or real??? That's anyone's guess. Just very interesting and similar.
