This was pretty dang scary!

Creepy, and the creepiness increases more and more a the film goes on. I enjoyed all three stories, but of course the last act really did it. I didn't have high expectations but this deserves to become a cult classic, gets the job done! It scared me more than The Conjuring and any other horror film from this year (although the acting in the first two stories could have been better). Katie Maquire was so good though.
A- In my Top 10 of the year so far, and can stand strongly next to Trick r Treat

RED! Can you tell me how gory it is? Any particular scenes that are brutal to watch? I tried looking at the parental advisory content but it's not up yet. I'm not a total wuss, but I do get squeamish about over the top gory stuff. I'm watching it tonight but I like to be prepared

Shoddy, Damien's short film called 'Terrifier' is the most gory you'll see in this film, and it is included in 'All Hallows Eve.'

The gore level is pretty extreme, like one scene where a demon cuts open a pregnant woman's belly and extracts the fetus. And chopped heads and limbs. I've seen much worse than this.

reply

Eeeeek, okay! Thanks for the heads up. I still intend on watching it, I'll just close my eyes at those parts

Thanks for the breakdown! The only one that really makes me squirm is the fetus part, YUCK. I'm still gunna give it a watch, though, I'll just be prepared!

I enjoyed the 80's filled atmosphere.

My friends and I really enjoyed it too ! I feel sorry for the people who shut it off after 25 mins, they really missed out on some great scenes. \

Love the clown character, very creepy

I liked it too :)

Are you people paid to upsell this utter crap or something??

This movie was god awful atrocious.

The acting is laughably bad, the dialogue is worse. The stories make not a lick of sense. The first involves a woman, drugged by the clown, chained up, almost killed by a mutant freak, caught by a homeless bum, taken to "demons" and then prepared for rape by the devil...who is a guy in a decent mask that won't stop licking his lips!!

The second involves a god awful looking alien and a woman, who does an actual smart thing by saying *beep* this, I'm outta here, and then proceeds to go through about every stupid movie cliche you can think of by going back into the house, making a lot of noise, blah blah blah.

The third involves a woman driving to New York...who, despite claiming she's lost, seems to have a pretty damn good grasp on her location when she calls the cops. She's hunted by the clown, who chops up some people and has the majority of the gore for the movie.

Nothing about this was at all scary. This wouldn't scare a 10 year old with how laughably bad it is.

You people are completely nuts or paid to come on here and say this stuff about such a *beep* movie.

reply

newsflash, the crapiness and cheese factor is SUPPOSED TO BE THERE

it's a cheap thrill for Halloween - nothing more - you need to read up about certain types of film before you go on long rants about what acting shoulda' been better or things tied in more nicely

take it easy buddy - people liking it - it's nothing personal

One does not simply keep clear of the moors . . .

reply

Really, so it was intentional for the lady in the second story to be drawn back into the house by a random blinking light? She just suddenly forgets that she was all "*beep* this, I'm outta here" simply because of a BLINKING LIGHT??

And then she turns completely useless/helpless because....??

Also, I'm real sure the cheese factor was supposed to be there in the third segment with her claiming she's lost, then telling the cops "The clown is at the gas station off the 91"

How the *beep* can you know that when you're lost??

This is not a cheap thrill. Trick R Treat is a cheap thrill. This is bottom of the barrel D grade crap.

Case in point, look at how the kid is trying to put the tape into the VCR the first time he does it. It's UPSIDE DOWN.

Cheesiness makes you laugh at how bad it is, not want to bash your head against the wall for the complete ridiculousness of how horribly bad it is.

Don't you remember the gas station attendant guy started to GIVE the woman directions before he heard a noise and went inside (and never finished giving his directions)?

Perhaps you should pay better attention before trashing this movie. And it was highway 94, not 91. But that's beside the point.

Anyway, this wasn't a masterpiece, but overall I thought it was a pretty good movie. The first story was a bit silly - but I liked the beginning of it a lot.

The second story, what can I say, the actress was gorgeous, and why is an alien needing a breathing apparatus so silly?

The third story was great, but definitely on the gory side.

Strangely, while the gore in the third story was good, I found some of the gore in the wraparound story not as good. Spoiler ahead: When the babysitter saw the two children's decapitated heads, I didn't find them looking as realistic as the gore that came before in this anthology movie.

Overall, a decent movie, IMO.

FWIW, so much later...
Why wouldn't an alien from another planet need a breathing apparatus? Can our people breathe on the moon? Could they breath on mars?

If you wanna nitpick alien headgear, explain the Predator's mask in Predator. It takes it off towards the end of the film as if it never needed it in the first place. Other than the *gasp!* effect of the reveal, it didn't seem to serve any real purpose.

Both of which are infinitely more well made and have better acting and cheesiness than this piece of *beep*

The alien costume in this movie made me come up with a great new quote for the FX in this movie in general.

"Does it look better or worse than something you'd see in a 1960's episode of Doctor Who? Worse? DO IT AGAIN!"

The alien looks WORSE than anything you'd see in a '60s episode of Doctor Who. It's pathetic.

The only good FX done in this film were the clown, who was the only half way decent actor, and the FX done when he was chopping the guy up and had the girl with her missing limbs on the table at the end.

This movie was disliked by the type of person who made up the above piece of $hit quote and described it himself as "great".

So when you have no actual rebuttal, you just turn to personal insults.

That pretty much means you've lost any and all credibility.

I'm sorry my opinion upsets you so much, but clearly you can't even argue what you found so great about this movie. Which just leads me to believe you were most definitely either paid, or involved in making this atrocity.

*Scoffs* Yeah, 8 years of almost daily posting at this website, extolling the virtues of hundreds of movies, and yet I happen to have direct involvement with this particular one. You f'n tard. Agree, it's a stupid movie with idiotic and annoying characters especially the driving girl in third story. Cliche and cheesy situations...Just meh.

idiotic - yes! annoying - yes!

cliche - yes!

cheesy situations - yes!

entertaining - yes!

I liked it, and a lot of people do

do I love it? meh - that's another story. I loved the Conjuring. I loved An American Werewolf in London. I liked Rosemary's Baby.

Just different opinions. I will say though some people are just plain old miserable and need to take a step back into reality. Sometimes movies are just supposed to be fun - especially around Halloween. I like what the director did here and I'll follow his future efforts. My only knock is that I'd like to see a sequel with all new stories (same clown though!)

The problem I had with it, and probably that other person did too, was that it took itself too serious. If you wanna go the low budget/cheesy/fun route, you have to know how to do it. You gotta know what makes it fun vs bad, and this didn't I don't think. Everything was there for it to be a fun ride, but then they tried as hard as they could to make it legitimately scary instead of cheesy. Tongue not plated in cheek enough as it were.

Plus the wraparound story of the sitter/kids was awful and just there to pad an already undeserved runtime...

I liked it. Stop passing YOUR OPINION off as fact white_fire4. Its not a masterpiece it has flaws. You're nuts for thinking that if YOU hate a movie it must be hated by everyone or they are paid off. Moron

reply

Agreed. When I first heard the babysitter's acting I started squirming in my seat. About a third of the way through I began fast forwarding. Apparently, the actress who has been playing the babysitter has been acting for 12 years prior to this movie! You'd think she was someone the director hired at McDonalds.

The acting in the other segments weren't better. The alien one made me both laugh and shake my head. What the hell was up with that alien's movements? Was it doing interpretive dance or ballet as it prowled around the house? So fruity. Plus, the chick annoyed me. She whimpered LOUDLY. Even if the phone hadn't rang the alien would have found her in the crawlspace because she was so damn loud.

The last segment might have made a good movie if the script was tightened up and the actress was more attractive.

But I agree with you wholeheartedly that this movie is so bad I wonder if people who say they liked it are being paid to say this. If not, it just goes to show you why horror movies these days are mostly garbage (and not in a good way). Horror fans will accept crap and call it gourmet.

reply

Your post made me laugh! Yeah, I thought the alien looked like it was pretending to be swimming or something, but I love your interpretive dance idea! lol

This was pretty dang *beep* Trick r Treat was a million times better then this, EVEN Creepshow 3 is more entertaining then this piece of *beep* *beep*

Trick R Treat is a great little movie. The best Halloween themed movie of all time.

Oh it was pretty DANG scary? What's wrong with the word "damn"?? Are you a mormon??

reply

I thought it was fairly entertaining, but I just wish the three segments were better. They were honestly a bit flat. I get they were supposed to be cheesy and over the top, but they weren't great no matter how you present it. I didn't mind the wrap around though. So, yeah not bad, but it could have been better.

reply

This movie kinda surprised me with some unexpected gore. It's worth a look and has some creep factor. It may not be all polished and shiny, but that's what adds to the sinister atmosphere.
