I love the way this is structured
Small "moments in time" interspersed with long but interesting reminiscences and stories (which seem very embellished and even more endearing because of it) interspersed with these fantasy-daydream-nightmare scenes.
It paints a marvelous picture without just spoonfeeding a story. You get an amazing sense of not only the main characters but the supporting players as well.
Manglehorn isn't always a likeable character but he's a character you want to sympathize with. It's beautiful.
Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.
