"Apocalypse Now" episode

41 year old single mother Patty was excited about going on a date with Dale. I am not sure why I found the episode so sad. Maybe it was because Dale was a Vietnam veteran. I wonder if there had been psychological help available to him. The actor who played Dale looked just like a family friend who passed away a few years ago.

Patty worked at a big box store. I think that is what it was called. Dale was a friendly customer and they had some brief conversations. When Dale asked for her phone number she gave it to him. He certainly looked and acted normal at that point. I wonder if it is against some workplace rules for employees to give their personal phone number to customers. I am not joking. I am not blaming Patty for getting stalked. She seems smarter than many victims who have been portrayed on the show. She knew Dale was sick before the end of their first date and tried to end the relationship immediately. Dale didn't even know he was supposed to pretend to be nice for at least a few dates.

I once overheard some employees conversing at a large dollar store where I occasionally shop. One of the women had been continuously harassed by a shopper. I wonder what the normal rules and laws are for those situations.

The thing I noticed first here was she lived in some a remote and desolate wasteland out in Arizona, which must have made it easier for Dale to target her. Yes I did not understand how she just gave her number to some random customer like that. When she first went to his place and he pulled out a knife to show her and bragging about his time in the military and the police force etc... that should have been the first warning. The guy who played Dale was great at playing the part though.

I am not sure about the rules or shop workers. I know nurses doctors etc are not allowed to date patients but not sure if it's the same for shop workers.
