the wicca episode...

thoughts??? was really bizarre .... wanted to try to find what show she is talking about ? if there were any clips of it online ? really crazy how they just filmed him talking about how obsessed he was with her while filming ... the whole thing was odd

reply

crazy *beep* i was surprised no one mentioned it.

Kind of why I came to this board, just got finished watching it. Did they say her name was Crystal Dyer? I'm unsure of the spelling...

I wanted to see the clips of him with the tape over his heart and such on air.

Not for nothing but a lot of her stuff seemed unbelievable. I can't believe that they would allow that to go to public access tv. When we were doing a show, there were such strict rules it was crazy, that's why I want to see these clips.

Also it seemed a bit strange that he would tell her he loved her out of the blue if she wasn't leading him on and it wasn't until things got out of hand did she go to her husband. Her statement of "well, first I wanted to keep doing the show...and second..." was pretty telling. This is the exact kind of things stalkers like this guy look for in women. They prey on the things they want the most, they shower them with gifts and lure them with the things they love and she ate it up until it hit the danger zone just to stay on tv....

She's lucky the only one that got hurt was him when she throat punched him (which I actually laughed at lol)....

I don't know why but again, something about her story wasn't passing the smell test to me, she seems to love the camera...Where was the heart necklace her husband gave her before he died, why wasn't she wearing it?

If anyone comes up with any info, please link it, I am so curious! Thanks!

The episode started with a disclaimer that they deliberately change some names and situations, but finding the case wasn't hard, as I mentioned above. From there you can do other searches using their actual names to find more articles.

See for example:
http://www.belch.com/blog/2008/10/24/annoying-witch-casts-a-stalking-spell/

There's also an old Yahoo Group on which someone posted a warning about a pagan festival Freedman was organizing and made people aware of the case, and he actually posted a response:

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/thefreecovenofwiccansofct/conversations/topics/2097

I gather from one of the links that he was a poseur in more ways than one. He took the magical name "Cabot" to imply that he was somehow a recognized initiate of Laurie Cabot's tradition (which is not Wicca, it's another Craft). Supposedly he had an "honorary" third-degree (which means nothing) that was allegedly revoked and/or he was booted out of Cabot's camp entirely:

Just search any of the involved parties and various articles will come up.

Thanks so much for the links with the real names. I'm watching a re-run right now.
1. Watched real video of 'Caleb', I hate it when they use actors that in no way, shape or form look like the actual people. In the show, Caleb came off cheesy, with the black trench, purple shirts & sunglasses . But, he looked like a trim, clean-cut, fairly attractive man. The real man, Rusty bla bla bla...has feathered long-ish, messy hair, he isn't remotely attractive, has visible tatoos & is dumpy. Hearing the YouTube video & seeing his demeanor, he doesn't seem charismatic, exotic. His 'accent' is very much put on. I have no clue how this man ever gained any 'followers'. He looks like 'that' fat kid nobody really pays attention to in school, who came back from Summer break dressed in all black, black fingernails, eyeliner, a Spencer's pentagram necklace & bike chain around his neck, carrying some book of Warklocks & the Wiccan Guide for Dummies. He likes the attention and level of fear it brings to others. Do 'voila' he becomes a self made Warlock or High Priest, changers his name to something more 'Witchy' than Rusty. (Lmao) and takes on this Cabot name (which I know nothing about) for instant credibility amongst the real Wiccan community. But he was always some freak seeking a level of importance or love, respect....that he never quite had the social graces, mental stability or resources to gain.
2. 'Crystal': I like her & she does seem like a well-grounded, tranquil and peace loving woman. I felt like she sort of baited her husband with all the activity that Caleb had directed towards her, at times. I think she should have called the police earlier, recorded all harrasing phone calls, saved e-mails, the rants on his show (dying to see these !)
I HATE when Kystal incessantly mentions when people 'gifted' her or worse, 'bestowed' the beautiful heart necklace (of which she states she will always remember the words Bill said, which I expected to be some very intimate love thing, but she said it was 'I love you so much' or whatnot. Or when at his funeral she 'bestowed' the special flowers on his elaborate casket. It sounds very much like she's 'taking on airs'

if this was so blatantly open, seen by colleagues & friends of Caleb...they could obviously see his mental health was deteriorating, fast.....could one not attempt to speak to him and convince him to see a psychologist or whatever Wiccans's use?

reply

Agreed...that "bestowed" was SO pretentious. Showing off for the camera, maybe?

She was too nice. "Look, I don't want you. I'm happily married to a man I love. There is no reason why I'd be interested in you. Even if I wasn't married, I still wouldn't want to be with you. I don't care about you and never will. Now go away and leave me the hell alone!

Then again, this didn't work for me when I was stalked by a dork who thought I was everything he'd ever dreamed of.....

On top of that, Krystal mentioned Avalon, what she claimed to be the Wiccan heaven. I'm Wiccan and I have never heard of Avalon. When I first converted, I did research into what Wicca dictates happens when we die and nothing about Avalon came up. There's the Summerland, but that's not heaven so much as it is a personal retreat we rest at with our loved ones before we're reincarnated.

reply

@PatchouliMoonsong since your wicca do you believe that Black Magic killed her husband because I for one second do not doubt that's what happened.

Heath Ledger Come Back,

reply

That's difficult to say. The black magick Caleb performed may have had an influence on Bill's health, but at the same time, the timing of his death may have just been a coincidence.

reply

No one with a working IQ would think he was able to work anything more demanding than a magic eraser cleaning pad. XD

Also, I didn't get the impression that Kelly thought it was a result of any spells. Her husband appears to have been an overweight, middle-aged man and was depicted in the episode as having suffered a massive stroke that left him weakened on one side. They also said he was asthmatic and had been complaining of not been feeling or sleeping well in days prior to his death. She said in the ep that he refused to go see a doctor and, no doubt, the stress of the situation didn't help either. That sounds like a textbook example of a heart attack waiting to happen. Likely had he heeded her request to go see a doctor, they would have found he was on the verge of a massive heart attack and might have been able to save his life. :(

Btw, his name really was Bill:

That's correct. A lot of her comments were more mainstream/monotheistic than pagan, let alone Wiccan. But then, unfortunately, that's the downside of eclecticism, a lot of people don't have any substantial training and incorrect information is constantly perpetuated, not the least of which is what really is or is not Wiccan. An actual Wiccan initiate would not equate the Summerlands with the Christian Heaven or call it something else. But then I didn't read anything that verfied that any of the involved parties was actual Wiccan initiates, despite going around calling themselves "Reverend".

Unfortunately there are a lot of pagan pretenders out there. Some people think they "know" Wicca just because they play lots of Dungeons & Dragons. They attempt to identify as Wiccan and just make fools out of themselves.

reply

Yeah I looked her up and didn't see anything. I even looked up where she lived and wicca together and didn't get anything. Odd. Would hate to think they are making stuff up, but they do with Deadly Women.

And PatchouliMoonsong I did find a site about Avalon here http://www.isle-of-avalon.com/

I just caught the rerun of this today and came here to see what others thought, then went a-googling.

What I gather from the links that came up (I searched "CT public access wicca Krystal") is that "Krystal's" name is Kelly Hajduk and her stalker "Caleb" is Rusty Lee Freeman who goes/went by the name of "Rapid Cabot Freedman."

It appears they both had public access shows at the same time, Kelly's was "Concert Connections" and Rapid's was "The Witching Hour". I went to youtube and the only videos he uploaded was a multi-part video from TWH of him conducting a phone interview with Ray Buckland, look for vids uploaded by "FirstBloodTV". Interestingly, Kelly has videos for a public access show with Freeman's ex-wife Alicia Lyon Folberth, you search for vids uploaded by "KeepersoftheFlameTV". They also have a website:

I did a little looking around. I found his personal facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/DeadFnSnakes Then he has another facebook page (I'm guessing it is his 'cult' or coven or whatever it is lol) here: https://www.facebook.com/IHateRapid/info?tab=page_info His youtube channel is here: https://www.youtube.com/profile?gl=US&hl=en&client=mv-google&user=FirstBloodCT&app=desktop And....it looks like the weirdo is newly engaged...as of yesterday...isn't that special. Why would any woman want to be with him? He is fat, ugly, weird and he is a known stalker. She is quite pretty too...I don't get it. Here's her profile... https://www.facebook.com/TammiLynJohnsonFalconheart?pnref=lhc

Edit: I found another facebook page of his. He really must love himself. Yuck. https://www.facebook.com/WitchinHourTV/

I watched this episode the other day. I always find it funny how the actors are always much better-looking than the real people. Anyway, I wondered why Krystal and her husband kept working at the public access channel knowing that they would run into Cabot. From what I gathered, he had the public access show first, she was a guest, then quit when he wouldn't leave her alone...and they her and her spouse start their own show at the same place?! Isn't that kinda like putting gasoline on a fire? I would think they should've never started their own show, perhaps that would've at least made things a little easier to break free from him.

reply

The black actors also have a lighter skin than the real ones.

I'm not saying that Wicca isn't a serious religion, but most Wiccans I have met aren't serious people. It's usually just a phase or a cry for attention.
