Give Spencer five million dollars?

How much could Ricky possibly be liquid for? There's no way that guy has 5 mil laying around...

reply

True.

It's one of many absurdities in the show. I could see him coming up with 5 mil in a month or whatever, if he had stocks he could sell, or other assets he could divest. - but 5 mil sitting in the BANK? Totally ridiculous. - And if he DID have that just lying around, then Spencer is the worst financial advisor on the planet!

Also, who gives a loan like that without a serious contract? And who would give a LOAN that size, anyway? It should have been an investment in the company, with private stock, or whatever.

reply

Insane and implausible plot point. If Spence was doing his job as his financial advisor, he would advise against such a risky high dollar investment.

In earlier episodes or maybe in an earlier Seasons it was explained that he had the best financial situation of most NFL football players. One of his girlfriends has seen telling him you have more put away than anybody. That is supposed to be the ironic thing about his character, where he looks like a big Playboy and somebody who would waste his money and he is actually very careful and has lots of. That is also why he doesn't care where he signed and he is being so choosy because he doesn't need the money and he just wants to go where he will be happy.

reply

Interesting, I had forgotten about that.

In a sense, that actually makes it more insane. If a guy is smart with his money why would he give it away like that? It was not even an investment, just an absurd loan which no sensible person would get involved in. If it had been an investment that would be one thing, but just a loan? Nuts.

reply

He still wouldn't have that much money liquid. It would be tied up in SOMETHING, if even just a mutual fund.

reply

I don't know what the percentages would be, but he would have to have a TON of money to have that much liquid. I know how much of my money my financial planners have in cash, and if that is any indication Ricky must have a ton to have that much liquid. I guess it is possible he is not investing and keeps his money in cash, but that would be pretty stupid.

reply

Didn't they say he signed a $100 million contract last season? It's totally believable that he would have 5 mil in a bank.
