If Donnie Yen isn't portraying Ip Man, I don't want to see it.
Here are all the Ip Man movies out there and I put a * next to the ones I've seen.
Ip Man* (Donnie Yen) Ip Man 2* (Donnie Yen) The Legend is Born: Ip Man* (Yu-Hang To) The Grandmaster* (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) Ip Man: The Final Fight (Anthony Wong) Ip Man 3
I believe there are two other films, I just can't remember the names of them right now. I'll find them later and post them in here.
Movies I've Seen Recently In 2013
Man of Steel Pacific Rim World War Z Dragon 2 Guns
There have been confusion regarding the Ip Man Trilogy. With many assuming that Herman Yau's Ip Man: Legend is Born, Final Fight or even Wong Kar Wai's Grandmasters as part of the series. Pegasus Motion Pictures has announced that the other films has no relation to the Ip Man movies directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen.
Those other films are produced by other film companies, with different teams involved. Marketing Ploy by various overseas distributors(Such as Well Go USA) of these films have confused fans.
The other ip man films have been hurried into production, after Donnie Yen made the first Ip Man(2008) famous and popular. While many other Ip Man films have been produced and film-makers jumping into the bandwagon, none of them have been as financially or critically successful as Pegasus Motion Picture's Ip Man 1 and 2 starring Donnie Yen.
Donnie Yen was upset by the sheer number of Ip Man films being made, in 2010 he said he will not be interested in making another Ip Man Film because the market is now oversaturated with the same subject matter. He waited for 5 years, before the hype die down, and Ip Chun(son of Ip Man) persuaded him before he agreed to film the last film of the trilogy - Ip Man 3. It will be Donnie Yen's last kung fu movie.

Quoted from where? His last kung-fu movie? I don't think so, just look at his upcoming movies which are all being done after Ip Man 3!
