Ip Man vs Asian= Not a Scratch; Ip Man vs American= Thrashed + Bleedin

IP Man fights other chinese masters, not a scratch.

IP Man fights 15-20 armed thugs, not a scratch.

Ip Man fights elite Japanese fighters & Karate Master, not a scratch.

However, the moment Ip Man faces an American/Europen fighter, he's badly battered & bruised with internal bleeding and barely makes out of the fight alinve.

What the hell is wrong with this kind of discrepancy. πŸ˜•

Ip Man - fighting using punches, elbows, kicks, Knees, bare knuckled; is unable to stand up to a fighter who can only punch ??

I am by no means questioning the historical accuracy or reality aspect of these movies. It's for entertainment purposes of course.

What doesn't make sense is that in the first half of the movie, they make IP Man invincible, untouchable and then in the later half, he is whipped like a child.

Are they not going against their own concept or there is no concept here !!?

Have movie studio gone nuts ?! or Is there a hidden asian vs caucasian agenda here ? Whats the message they're trying to send..

What about .. umm ... the weight category ???)))

reply

Can't you see ?
They wish to please the Americans in other to sell the movie there.
Donkey Yen is not Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fatt or Tony Leung.

reply

LMAO "donkey yen"... also, you mention Tony Leung/Chow Yun Fatt but fail to mention Jet Li!?!

reply

Chow Yun Fatt made a few movies in HW already. Tony(Cannes winner) Leung's Ip Man version The Grandmaster collected 3 times more than the Ip Man worldwide. Not sure if Jet Li's name will sell in HW and I doubt he is keen in HW since he went semi-retirement and go drama and Buddhism.

reply

LMAO, you have no idea what you're talking about idiot.. In the martial arts film category, Jet Li's name is HUGE worldwide, he's as famous as Jackie Chan (if not more). You sound like you just recently started watching martial arts movies, or you're just some Asian with very little knowledge about western movie stars.

reply

He may be huge but this Buddhist has his own principle now. He will not act for such movie or any dishonest producers.

reply

Chinese Communist Party agenda maybe, but not against Western. Don't read too much in to it

Mike Tyson has over 100 pounds on Ip Man, that will make a huge difference. Plus as you should know most asians in that film are built for speed and endurance, none of them are ripped to hell like Tyson would be at his prime.

reply

I believe you mean Frank, and not Mike Tyson. Or you mean Donnie Yen and not Ip Man.

I think the second film was highly inspired by Rocky 3 & 4 which is why they had IP Man badly beaten.

reply

Just use common sense.

Most of Ip Man's Asian opponents are guys within his weight class and he has had extensive experience and knowledge of how to fight against known Martial Arts styles in Asia.

He struggles more against the Westerners because their two best fighters so far are much bigger and stronger than what Ip Man is used to. Plus boxing is almost entirely unknown in China at this time therefore Ip Man is fighting unknown opponents. Just think about pro sports today and how important it is to study film on your opponent.

Now you use that logic in the Ip Man movies and you'll see that Ip Man is often surprised by how fast and powerful each punch from the boxers are. He is unable to evade all their attacks by instinct like he does against the Asian fighters because he doesn't know what kind of strategy or moves pure boxers use.

reply

He probably did have bruises in those other fights and just didn't show it.

Facing Tyson was different because let's just assume Tyson punches harder (not a unreasonable assumption). Right at the start he took a hit that he might have been able to shake off if it's from some thug or trainee. Martial arts is after all figuring out how to combat effectively without requiring massive punching power determined by physics F=MA.

It's like in the Matrix, the Redpills have to go through martial arts training and fight all fancy and run on wall and *beep* Yet all Agents fight by throwing efficient punches and kicks that are brutally fast plus with them not feeling pain and punch through concrete walls and *beep* Redpills with their martial arts training still have to run every time they see one. (Also Agents don't die.)

You would too if you imagine all you need to do is land a punch or kick and the guy is out of breath, a few more and he's done. And your punch is naturally fast. What kind of martial arts training do you really need?

Not saying Tyson is like that and not saying he can land many hits on Ip but the movie dictates that he did, and that it should affect him way more than from sparring a fellow Wing Chun practitioner that is after all relying on techniques (which would still hurt and *beep* probably shows up days later.)

I may be getting my Donnie yen movies mixed up but the movie Ip Man would have been able to beat a young real Mike Tyson easily.

The movie Ip Man can kick 160 lb men across a room and he never gets hit even though ten men with two arm and two legs are attacking him at the same time. The movie Ip Man can beat the world boxing champion with just his hands.

So the answer to the question as to whether movie Ip Man could beat ship making industrialist Mike Tyson, then yes, easily.

When I watch the Olympics, USA kicks everyone's ass in nearly everything so it's believable.

reply

Really?
Then they would get all the medals but they don't.
I'm confused by your comment now.
