Shaun L. White Guy Sr.

I watched this movie last night. When they interviewed "Shaun L. White Guy Sr." I thought to myself, did he just say "Shaun L. White Guy Sr."??? Then they backed up and started the interview over again and he said "Shaun L. White Guy Sr.", and I thought to myself, no he didn't just say "Shaun L. White Guy Sr." again did he? That is an old woman. Her name can't be "Shaun L. White Guy Sr.". I must have misheard him. Today I checked the credits and sure enough there was a character named "Shaun L. White Guy Sr." and IMDB says that is her real name? WHAT????!?

As a name, Shaun and it's spelling variants are often unisex. A quick example would be the actress Sean Young (of Blade Runner fame). Felicia Day's character from the web series The Guild is named Sid (explicitly stated that it's not short for anything). My name (rarely used as it may be) is occasionally unisex.

There could be a boatload of reasons for her last name(s). She may have had a member of her family with the name White, or also Guy.

The Sr. part of the name typically denotes masculinity, but I've heard of some cases in which the mother will give a daughter the same name, so I think it still applies.

Of course she could also be transgender, and either not changed her name yet or decided to keep it.

I hope I've helped lessen your confusion some.

If you look in the credits it's her real name too. At least according to the credits that list her as herself.
