Why do people consider this a Bigfoot movie?

Yes, I know that the movie is about the search for it, but...

[SPOILERS!]

Whatever it is is never shown. The wood knocking and rock throwing can be explained by the presence of the naked woman. And the vocalizations and animal roars sounded distinctly not apelike. I don't know where Bobcat wanted the audience to land, but I'm far more likely to suspect a crazy woman and her feral dogs rather than Bigfoot was to blame.

If you've ever seen "Finding Bigfoot" or any other shows where they are looking for sasquatch, those are exactly the vocalizations they supposedly hear, and the rock-throwing and wood knocking are also signs of bigfoot. Add to that the fact that the setting for the film is the location of the best-known bigfoot sighting and the fact that the protagonists are hunting for bigfoot, then I'd say it's safe to assume that it's supposed to be a sasquatch that is responsible for what happens to them. Just my take on it, though. The couple themselves keep speculating that it could be people just messing with them. So it's open to interpretation.
