Why do people hate this movie?

I don't understand why people hate this movie so much, I actually thought Jim was quite funny at the beginning. I get that people have their own problems with it like why didnt they take a map or GPS and things like that, but I swear it just made the last half hour of this movie one of the most tense and frightening scenes to ever watch in a horror movie for me. I think it was just the whole not knowing what was making those creature noises, and what was literally right outside of their camp just waiting to get in. And perhaps the fact I watched it at 1am in the morning, lol! But I still don't get why people are being harsh, I just think it's a very well done movie.

As with TBWP , a lot of people were dissapointed that you don't get to see anything.

The entire first hour was just a boring travelogue of the main couple going around town interviewing random people, hearing Bigfoot songs and doing other stuff that wasn't relevant to the plot. We already know the legends of Bigfoot, so this just felt like a big waste of time.

The final half hour finally turned into horror, but there was no buildup to it. Did they really choose to venture into the middle of the woods with no maps/GPS or any self-defenses (like guns, mace, etc.)? The much-hyped tent scene was just them sitting there going "did you hear that?" over and over. And that ending? Ugh.

So yeah, that's a basic summary of why this film didn't work for me.

Not a waste to explain BIGFOOT's origin....the reason movie makers do this in movies is for people or even younger people who are not in the know or discovering this subject matter for the first time....my daughter does not know about Bigfoot and she is 17....so,yeah...I think a lot of younger people don't know this because it's just that...young. Movies have to do this to get all the audience on the same page. ...oh...and I love this movie...watched it twice this week on Showtime Beyond.

My biggest problem with the movie was that it was boring. The "tent scene" was ok but the rest was just meh.

Because this is IMDB where people find every single thing possible to gripe about and everyone hates everything.
