Movie based on the historical Macbeth

Because I enjoyed the play - and more recently this movie - so much, I looked into what is known of the historical Macbeth. It's very different to Shakespeare's telling but I think it would make a good movie it's own right. The civil war with his cousin Duncan; Macbeth's long and often successful reign; his support for Christianity in Alba and the trip to Rome; the eventual reversal and defeat by Duncan's son. It's a good story.

Yes, Tiger, you're got a great idea there. I'd love to see an historically accurate telling of the true-to-life story.

Actually, to be frank, I'd love to see an accurate film of almost any event in Scottish history. What films we've seen have pretty much all been told from an English (i.e. conqueror's) perspective, or else from a romanticised Hollywood angle. I don't mean that politically, but some accurate fleshed-out history would be great to see.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

Funnily enough, Curzon Cinemas have a leaflet for this film - but it also mentions and deals with the real life historical Macbeth.
