Great opening in the UK

Also for StudioCanal, Macbeth charted fourth with a solid, if unspectacular, $1.13m (£746,642) debut from its 399 sites.

The good weather this weekend might have impacted it, but Macbeth will hope to draw in the crowds midweek due to its older-skewing audience.

Maybe not "great", but certainly decent. Are they adding theaters for next weekend?

reply

Yeah, not awesome but take in consideration The Martian opening on the same day and the fact this is Shakespeare. It was good.

reply

Yep - I saw it at the Curzon Canterbury, yesterday. The auditorium was quite full.

Good to know! The film only dropped 30% on its second week, it's fine by me. It's not doing amazingly well after the hard promotion but it's good for a Shakespeare film IMO.

Great! I hope for the great, big box office for this film. It deserves it... though I haven't seen it yet.

Nolan, I love you forever!
