Technically it's a Cubano. "Cubana" is Cuba's national airline. Just so you know if anyone wants to search for it.

One of my favourite sandwiches.

I had my first Cubano when I had visited Puerto Rico. I had friends that lived out there and they took me to an old shack. No ambiance but darn good food.

I had my first cubano in Miami. Amazing. But I agree with the poster who mentioned the butter. At my age I watch the carbs, sodium and fat. (My gut can’t handle the fat.)

My husband and I occasionally make our own Cubano on a French bagette (can’t get Cuban bread here). We leave off the butter, use low fat, low sodium meats and reduced fat swiss. We grill it on the George Foreman grill and Then share the sandwich and have a salad with it. It’s a nice treat every now and then.
