The ending rankles, as all I am left with is he's a murdering idiot.

The speech at the end- how can one sympathise when he's just murdered an innocent guy (the weed guy) and killed his daughter's mother by accidentally setting fire to her- will he ever tell his daughter?- that might've been interesting for the film. Some good things about this film but way too much like Pusher without the Danish film's finesse. 6/10

I agree about the review.

But he didn't murder the weed dealer.
(If he wanted to kill him he would've hit him more than 2 times, and used a hammer instead of a flashlight)
According to the plot description on Wikipedia "After Kush refuses to help, Martini sneaks into Kush's apartment, knocks him unconscious, and steals his drug money" so it seems like others agree with my interpretation.
