I wanted to like it (spoilers)

Being an Albanian immigrant myself, I wanted this movie to be good, so that I could proudly show it to my friends and coworkers as a hidden gem, but unfortunately, I can't make that recommendation in good conscience.
The movie was dreadfully slow at times, although offering a good and authentic view into that portion of Detroit. The Albanian personalities were somewhat authentic as well, but I found the acting lackluster to say the least. The lead was played well, as was the villain role, but the rest of the actors seemed to be just guys in the neighborhood that Nickola asked if they wanted to be in a movie. It was hard to take some of the acting seriously. For instance, his lawyer at the beginning of the movie made me shrug my soldiers. This guy seemed more like my uncle reading some lines rather than an amateur actor.
The best part of the movie was his money-making scheme to fraudently close the sale of the apartment to multiple tenants. I have known of craigslist schemes that played out similarly, and I found this authentic and entertaining.
The ending was awful. Completely unnecessary and it felt as if the Pete and Leka character who were not exactly fleshed out characters, showed up out of nowhere and started shooting guns. I just don't understand how a movie can go from being one way, to turning into a lowcut Taken the very next. I really wanted to like it, but simply put, it was boring and without many redeeming qualities.
