I wanted to see this movie until I saw the ratings
It looked interesting and thought provoking, a weeper. But the ratings are so low!

shareReally? You're going to base your opinion of this film based on the opinions of morons that overpraise utterly useless and pointless crap like Boyhood??
shareYou are a hateful republican !
shareNot to highjack the topic, but I'm not a republican and I watched Boyhood and thought the movie was pointless. While I thought the idea to have the cast age naturally over a 12 year period was interesting and actually nice to see, it was horribly forgettable. It was just an average dysfunctional family over the span of 12 years. I bet if they removed the fabulous marketing gimmick of filming over 12 years and told the same story by using make-up to age the adults and different actors to represent the kids as they grew older nobody would even remember the film.
I digress, back to the OP's comment... don't judge a movie by the IMDB rating. It used to be a good indicator of film quality, but more and more it is simply a reflection of the individual rater's prejudices (i.e. pro-war/antiwar; republican/democrat; pro-life/pro-abortion; racial bias; gender bias; and the list goes on and on).
So many people rating on IMDB haven't even seen a film before rating. Instead they rate based upon the trailer or even the actors. See it, you may love it (or hate it) but at least that will be your opinion and not the opinion of people who are sitting in their underwear eating Cheetos (or wishing they had Cheetos, like me).
Only a little over 300 people have rated this film so far. Usually it'll take a good 20,000+ before a somewhat balanced rating has been achieved.

Last 20-30 minutes were good. 1st half fell pretty flat in my opinion. Really weak script. The actors almost made up for it. 6 out of 10 is what it is
shareReally? I thought the beginning was pretty good. I hated the last 8 or so minutes and while I liked the resolution, how it came about was to obvious and silly, I found it frustrating. Ultimately I did enjoy it enough but probably won't sit through it again. I do think I might have scored it about the same as you.
share"This Is The End" and "Neighbors" had good reviews....and if you saw them, they weren't that great....and for me, they were actually horrifically cheesy, stupid, pointless movies that I was dragged to. This movie, "Black or White" is actually a good movie, with a point, that I enjoyed. I know better than basing my opinion on that of others. Definitely see this movie, you might like it. :)
shareI learned a long time ago not to listen to the critics...sometimes they're right, but so many times they're dead wrong!
shareHaters are gonna hate... My daughter and I LOVED the movie! Where it could have gotten sappy, it didn't! I found it fresh, honest and very touching! Also, where you normally would "take sides" in a film like this, it was hard to do because it was obvious that EVERYONE was trying to do what's best for the little girl. Loved it!
shareSometimes you need to think for yourself. If you want to see a movie go see a movie. I like many movies critics trashed and vice versa. It's all about personal taste.
Actors are mere products of a good writer's imagination
