Most idiotic premise for a film

It is completely ridiculous to suggest these people would somehow get away with what they did... hello, the victims are still alive!!! They know exactly where the house is and now you are hanging out there having a family reunion? Well, I guess the couple won't bother telling the police what happened or anything so it's all cool.

Not to mention the husband was a complete tool and treated his wife like she was an idiot. Wow I'm so glad I watched this movie, not a waste of time at all.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I agree the ending, while an interesting twist, defies logic ... unless you choose to assume Ed and Sarah told the police in Manchester what happened, and the criminals were all arrested moments after their happy little reunion.

Not to mention the husband was a complete tool and treated his wife like she was an idiot.

Ed was bit immature at times, but you can see why he would be irritated with Sarah. After all, it was she who wanted the move and who pushed him to relocate to an old house in a very remote location. No sooner are they there, then she starts acting terrified of what, at the time, seem like ordinary country noises and old house settling sounds.

In fact, I liked the couple. They both seemed flawed but real, to the limited extent we got to know them.

To be fair, the wife was a complete moron. Then again the husband was as well.

I can't remember the last time I saw a movie with such a idiotic premise. It almost sent me into shock.

racehlhomburg if you don't think racism doesn't rule the world much of the time I don't know what world you live in. With them being foreigners in a way out in the country area don't you think maybe the police force there backed the folks that live there and don't want any English people moving in? Things like this happen. People are wronged all the time in this world due to racism. In a small town / back country area things are different. This sort of thing still happens in 2016.

::Slow claps:: Congrats for dumbest thing I've read in while... And on so many levels too.

There is so much wrong with this film! Also pretty offensive to Scots in my humble opinion!

reply

I agree that it's an incredibly stupid film but I'm puzzled by all the references to "racism" on here. What "races" do people think are involved? The couple are English and the others are, presumably, Scottish.

reply

The movie refers to Scottish nationalists who lobby to keep out English immigrants who were by all accounts taking up housing. I think it was linked to Scotland becoming independent on its release. However, it was implemented in such a lackluster way that for the most part made very little sense. Yes, I can imagine local people having an issue with English people taking over a house that has been part of the Scottish heritage for years. Dressing in pig heads and dropping them off in Manchester? Nah!

Such drivel. Based on actual events? I smell *beep*
A complete nothing of a movie with just about enough content to take up a 10 minute segment in Scooby Doo.
A bit coincidental that it appears to have been released around the time of the Scottish Independence referendum. The film makers need to be tied up and dumped somewhere in the middle of the Sahara Desert.
