Ballbuster extraordinaire

The female protagonist was such a ballbreaker. High-strung and jumpy, a 'fraidy cat of gigantic proportions. Her part was badly written, exagerated out of proportion, it was funny for all the wrong reasons really.
The actress tried her best to play it realistically, and give some dignity to the character, but her brave effort was doomed to failure.

I recognized the actress from something right away but couldn't figure out what. Her IMDB filmography mentions The Offspring which I saw but don't remember her part 'The Woman'.

She was "the woman" in The Woman. And by the end of this movie, she almost looked like The Woman again.

'Fraidy cat? Perhaps you missed how the woman turned out to be right about people breaking into her home, and how she managed to repeatedly evade capture, rescue her husband, and kill someone (and nearly a second person too).

Oh come on---yeah, her character was irritating as hell when she kept asking him to go check on the strange noises she heard, but if her husband had taken her fears seriously at first, they might have been able to get out before the pig-faced strangers came after them. That didn't make her a "ballbuster" of any kind--enough of that dumb sexist stereotype already. And she more than made up for it afterward by showing that she had way more guts than she previously showed, especially since she had little notice and little time to make a break for it--she really showed what she was made of, then.
