Still boldly going

William Shatner keeps Star Trek going boldly where nobody man or Capt. has gone before, I would like to say he never fails to surprise or amaze, and yet this little show once again brings out why I have loved both him and Star Trek for so long, but also it was just too dark and truthful for my love of him and Star Trek to hear all the bad things about Gene Roddenberry and STNG series.

Yes it was probably worth telling and I put off watching it for fear of the darkness, which is exactly what I found in it, there was some good stuff and it was nice to hear from the writer's and see the aging cast members who I am all fond of, but my glory days of watching STO series with youthful eyes and ears really wants it to stay as it was, just a wonderful mystery that Gene Roddenberry created and Capt. Kirk and company delivered so well.

Most likely many Tv & Movie series have experienced trouble between writer's, director's and cast members, oh and we cannot leave out the almighty studios since they are the god's of TV & Movie land, however I don't think every story needs to be told exactly like it was, personally I would have done a Kobiashi maru manuver and brightened up the darkness to give it more wacky doodle, that's what i love about Bill Shatner now and Gene Roddenberry back in the day.

Anyway, thanks for trying to please your fans Jim, you are forever in my heart and millions of other Treker's for life.

As Spock would say, 'I'm only human' Live long, Rock hard and Prosper... Some where out there.

JWW

P.S. I gave it 10 Star rating because Capt. Kirk was in it and deserve them.

Kind of changed my perspective of Rick Berman.

Truthfully, the original series is just awful man. I know that's not what you want to hear, but its the truth. The acting is crap, the sets are low budget and cheap, and Kirk is an ass. It was a typical 1960's show and now it is showing its age. I started watching Trek when I got my first TV in 1993. I was about 12.5 years old and to this day I LOVE STTNG, DS9, VOY, and yes even Enterprise. They were fun shows that explored the human condition so well. Gene did lay down the groundwork for TOS and TNG, however, TOS wasn't great and the first 2 seasons of TNG were a bit campy too. Now thanks to this show, I know why... Gene Roddenberry is why. If he had stayed or his health hadn't been failing its possible TNG would have faded into history and the other shows never would've been made. I don't remember his name but the guy that replaced Gene who felt it was his place to "maintain Gene's vision in his absence (and paid for him to leave)" seems like a serious *beep*

After he left the true development of TNG began and I'm glad. If it wasn't for them, I may like star wars right now and that just makes my chest hurt. :D

DS9 is perhaps the least Roddenberry-ish show in the franchise...and arguably the best.

I think DS9 is the best Trek series, by a wide margin. If someone is "upset" or bothered by these *truths* about Roddenberry, then they are as gullible and irrational as the rest of the demographic he was trying to seduce into joining his "Cult of Roddenberryism."
