11.22.63: A Fascinating Premise Gets Sidetracked

“11.22.63” sets forth with a fascinating premise, but gets a little too distracted by superfluous material that only causes it to get sidetracked from the main plot, resulting in a slightly unfocused show with problematic execution.

If you think the mini-series got sidetracked, you should read the book. While great in it's own right, there are five extra years of storylines that go off the main plot.

This is my biggest complaint with the story - it doesn't match the premise. The story itself is actually about time travel and his relationship with Sadie, and hardly at all about the JFK assassination.
Granted, I think what the story ended up being was still pretty good, but it frustrates readers/viewers when you promise them a premise, but end up giving them a different kind of story.
