Solo nosotros entendemos

Even if you started legally somewhere else, you can truly relate to Ramon. He was indeed very lucky after all. But all the language barrier and such is real. Some of us of course we have more education and dare to learn a few words and sentences in a language we barely know. But this is not always the case.

I can understand the main character, worried to eat as the first thing you look when living outside is familiar flavors. Unlike what most people think, germans can be very kind and friendly if you are in the right place, so I was glad to see that portrayed in the movie.

As a bolivian who has lived in Mexico and also Germany, this movie made completely sense to me.

Shut up and LIVE!

This moves was bull sht, he didn't even take trouble to learn german, there were like two times in the movie in which he learned like three words, a movie like The Terminal shows more effort to look real. Ramon was only thinking in eating burritos, come on. And there was no substancial change in the character throughout the film, he remained the same, which is a lazy writing. It was like a big budget telenovela episode, I dont know why so much love for this. Was kindda meh

Total BS?

I detect a hater here. A person changes gradually, he did not get the chance to it, he was only a few months living in Germany, he arrives to Germany in winter time and gets deported around the same season.

His social circle was limited to the house he lived and the nearby neighborhood.
The movie wanted to portray two different aspects of the people involved in it and it did.

I am mexican and I was backpacking in Europe, spent 3 weeks in Germany and met latinamericans who where immigrants there since less than a year. Their attitude wasn't stupid as Ramon's, which was like if he had some mental disorder or something; a mexican Forrest Gump.

I'm Chilean-German and I live in Mexico. I speak German and Spanish and I can tell you there was something weird about the character: either you're a narrow minded Mexican boy from a little town or you're a smart guy that looks as smart as the actor looked. Cause he didn't strike me as being dumb or too innocent. He *behaved* like that only, cause that's how the plot was written. Now to learning German: hell, I'd be learning something in 5 minutes!!! Thank you, hello, please, hunger, where is...?, what?, I, you, cold, money... what the f... ever!!! That's so plain, so damn easy, it's almost obvious. But saying "I don't understand" without even saying "what?" doesn't seem normal to me. I've travelled a lot, been on the street many years, in coutries where I didn't speak or understand a word and heck YOU DO LEARN CAUSE YOU'VE GOT TO LEARN, DAMMIT!!!! You don't spend 3 weeks saying "I don't understand!!" and looking like you're thinking "adapt to my narrow world view cause I'm certainly not going to adapt to yours"!!!!!

Sorry. Makes me mad.
