Kinda confused - who was/were the killers and what was their motive?

I thought this movie was cool for what it was, but the killer (or killers, as there seemed to be at least two) left me scratching my head.

Unless I missed something in the first 8 minutes of the movie - what was the killers' motive? Also, who were they?

The film never really answers this. The film ends with both of their presumed deaths and it appears her and the dad survive - but to wrap it all up - the film didn't do that.

Of course that could be the ultimate point, but it still could have ended with a few more answers while still keeping some suspense.

I agree with you about the killers motives and identities.

Judging by the rest of this terrible film, I think the makers just couldn't be bothered with an explanation.

In common with so many other similarly themed horror films of today this has a fairly involving and at times exciting opening that as soon as it seems to have established a tone almost immediately degenerates into a dull, generic bore. The only reason I found to continue watching was to learn the identity of the killers, the big reveal. As there didn't seem to be one, unless I fell asleep, I now deeply resent it.

Near the end the dad says "why are you doing this" and one of the killers answers but I have no idea what he said. Did anyone else hear what he said because I don't have a clue why they were killing people.

Unfortunately Wilks, neither did the filmmakers.

Apparently these days it is not just acceptable but practically compulsory for movies to leave audiences in the dark, and then somehow it's our fault for being so stupid we need explanations spoonfed to us.

Near the end the killer responded "It's Mischief Night". Personally I think the movie was good all the way up until the boyfriend was murdered dressed in the coat. They missed a perfect cliche of "I'm your half brother, your mother ruined my parents marriage, now you have to die". At least that would have made some sense. And it would have explained the looks and smiles earlier in the movie when she called and he was looking off screen.

It was the same house they killed the other couple in too. Odd they didnt give a motive

The killer did say "its mischief night" but , in actuality, psychopaths do not need a motive, they just kill for fun.

A motive would have been better, but a psycho doesnt need one.
