When will this be released in the US?
Will this even get a major release in the States, or is it considered too "british?" I mean, even Pirates were released in the US, for goodness sake!

shareGiven Aardman's past box-office records in North America, it might just end up going direct-to-video here instead.
"DO NOT WRECK THIS GIGANTIC DOOM."
My God, that would be a bloody shame!!!
But let's face it, it isn't just Aardman, stop-motion films never do much B.O. anywhere, and especially not in the States, true. It is as if stop-motion is some kind of exclusive sub-genre all its own, regardless of what it is about, and which, ultimately, often end up as cult items, which isn't a bad thing in itself. But, sheesh, a film like this needs huge exposure. How else do they expect it to do business?
The Wallace & Gromit movie opened here. I didn't think that did bad. It did pretty good actually. Was certainly worth releasing theatrically here. Shaun The Sheep has plenty of fans here it seems. While I don't think it would set the Box Office on fire it might make low 20's and then do better on home video. The theatrical release would help make more aware of it so it does better on DVD/Blu-ray. I think they should give it one here.

The U. S. release date is April 24th.
shareAh, so it will be released theatrically? Good news indeed. Thank you.
sharewell... apparently, the U.S. release date has changed, and is now listed as "dates coming soon".
shareI would take that April 24th date with a HUGE grain of salt. Apart from here and in the results page for Google, I don't see ANYWHERE else giving a release date for the USA except for "coming soon" or "TBA".
I don't know where that April 24th date comes from, so until someone will reveal their sources, or until the date comes/goes with or without the movie, call me a skeptic.
That's only a week-and-a-half away now, and I've seen/heard ZERO publicity for this in the USA. If it were coming out next weekend, there'd at least be a few commercials (unless this is getting VERY limited release, which would be a shame).
Sure, "Pirates Band of Misfits" probably didn't do all that well over here, but "Shaun" has a pre-existing TV show to back it up (unlike "Pirates" and "Chicken Run"). I'd expect "Shaun" to perform about the same as the "Wallace and Gromit" movie than the other two.
Oh, well. If it doesn't come out here theatrically, there's always the Region B blu-ray disc...
GREAT NEWS!!! US release date set for August 7th and to be released by Lionsgate!!!

Better than no release at all, I suppose, but not "great" news, since the UK DVD and Blu-rays come out on JUNE 1st and can be in my mailbox way before the US theatrical.
Oh, well!
