Not Really Impressed by Trailer

I know you can't judge a movie by trailer alone but so far nothing I have seen has been original ie head in the posterior of an animal, fitting in by also doing the rude things that others do, etc.

I hope that the critics are not just giving this high marks for nostalgia or underdog status in the day and age where none CGI animation is generally looked down on and is limited released.
