Question about "Mistress America"

Does anyone know if the screenwriters actually wrote out a short story called Mistress America? There are many examples of the tale in the voice-over parts, and they are some of the best lines from the movie. Almost seems like it would be a New Yorker-type piece. I was curious if the story was ever merchandised in any way.
